In The Desolation of Smaug, the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, and thirteen dwarves, while traveling to Lonely Mountain, pass through the black forest of Mirkwood, where they are attacked and captured by giant spiders. Prior to the decision to have three films instead of two, Tauriel was described as having a more substantial role in what was then the final film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which had been planned for release in 2013, but was finalized as the third part of the trilogy, which was released in December 2014. She first appears in the second film of the trilogy, The Desolation of Smaug, released December 13, 2013. The character of Tauriel was created for the films, having no equivalent character in the original novel.
She is played by Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly, who was nominated for several awards for her performance in The Desolation of Smaug, with some of the stunt work performed by Australian stuntwoman Ingrid Kleinig. She is a Woodland Elf whose name has been translated as "Daughter of the forest", and is the head of the Mirkwood Elven guard.

On Christmas Eve, Sisa was located by Basilio unable to recognize him due to her insanity, Sisa fled, pursued by her son into the forest. ĭetained at the barracks, Sisa was eventually placed at the alferez' house, where she was maltreated by the alferez' wife Doña Consolacion before being put under the care of a doctor. Publicly humiliated, she began going insane. Rushing home, Sisa found Basilio missing and was arrested by the Guardia Civil in order to get her sons to surrender. The following day, Sisa went into town to fetch Crispin, only to find out that he had gone missing and that the Guardia Civil were looking for both of her sons. Later that night, she was shocked when only Basilio came home, her son relating to her that Crispin had been left at the parish house due to being accused of stealing money. On All Saints' Day in 1881, Sisa cooked dinner for her sons, only for her husband to come by and eat most of it. She also gained the acquaintance of her neighbor, Pilosopo Tasio. Abused by her husband, she bore him two sons, Basilio and Crispin. Sisa eventually settled and married in San Diego.
